Regional Airports with Towers
LAANC Required 0 – 400 ft (Grid Ceiling) FAA LAANC / DroneZone Instant automated approval via LAANC service suppliers (Aloft, AutoPylot, Airspace Link). Prohibited without active authorization.
Class E Surface Extension
Controlled Airspace to Ground
LAANC Required 0 – 400 ft (Grid Ceiling) FAA LAANC Controlled airspace reaching ground level near non-towered instrument approach airports.
Prohibited Areas (P-00)
e.g., P-56 Washington D.C., Camp David
Prohibited 0 ft (No Flight) Not Granted (Secret Service/DOD) Strict nationwide prohibition. Drones operating here are subject to immediate counter-UAS action, seizure, and criminal charges.
Restricted Areas (R-00)
Military Ranges / Hazardous Facilities
Restricted 0 ft (Unless Active/Permitted) Controlling Agency Permit Operations are prohibited while the area is active unless prior written approval is issued by the controlling military/federal authority.
U.S. Borders & Critical Infrastructure
US-Mexico / US-Canada Borders
Security Zone 0 – 400 ft (Strict Limits) FAA 99.7 / DHS Clearance Flight within international border security buffers and designated Department of Defense/DHS facilities is regulated under 10 U.S.C. 130i. Flight over ports of entry is prohibited.
National Parks & Wildlife Refuges
NPS / USFWS Lands
Landing Ban 0 ft (Takeoff & Landing) NPS Superintendent Permit 36 CFR 1.5 prohibits launching, landing, or operating drones from National Park property without a written permit.
Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs)
VIP Travel, Stadiums, Wildfires
Active Ban 0 ft (Within TFR Radius) FAA Emergency Waiver Dynamic real-time restrictions. Prohibited over major sporting events (3 NM radius / 3,000 ft AGL 1 hr before/after event), wildfires, and presidential movements. Check B4UFLY prior to launch.
